BSO’s 11th Mid-Atlantic SPORTS DAY
for Blind & Visually Impaired Youth & Adults
When: Saturday, Sept. 25, 9:15am-4pm
Where: Carpenter Sports Building, N. College Ave., Univ. of Delaware, Newark, DE There is train & bus service from MD & SE-PA to Wilmington, and bus service to UD.
What: Come learn or improve sport skills while having fun, seeing old friends and meeting new ones. We offer separate sessions in some sports for beginners & experienced and for male & females. The following tentative sports will be conducted by volunteer instructors:
Archery
Audio Darts
Balance Beam
Basketball
Beep Baseball
Bowling
Goalball
Golf Driving & Putting
Judo
Ping-Pong
Rock Climbing
Swimming
Soccer
Tandem Cycling
Yoga
Who: All blind & VI ages 7-77+, and siblings from anywhere who can follow directions and function fairly independently. Sighted guides provided upon request. Parents, teachers, O&M instructors, and other VI professionals are encouraged to attend.

per individual or $12 per family. Pre-registration deadline is Sept. 18.
Late registrants and walk-ins pay $8 & $15.
Sports Day History: At the request of participants, parents, and teachers who have attended the
Davidow-Northeast Games, the Sports Day was created to provide additional opportunities for blind and VI of the Mid-Atlantic states to enjoy sports in a non- threatening, fun atmosphere. After gaining experience, participants are encouraged to get involved in community programs and/or on-going blind sports programs. Sports Day is hosted by the Blind Sports Organization (BSO) – Delaware Chapter (DABA), UD Adapted Physical Ed. Dept., & Delta Gamma Sorority.
Blind Sports Info: There are organized sports for blind and visually impaired all over the
world. There are opportunities for local, regional, national, international, and Paralympic competition for those interested in more than fitness and recreation. This Sports Day can be your first step to participation or improvement in sports.
