Welcome to the Blind Sports Organization web page.

We are known as
Blind Sports Organization (BSO). After 31 years as the Pennsylvania Association for Blind Athletes (PABA), the Board decided a new name was needed to better express our mission and our regional involvement. We have also written a new strategic plan. We have the same mission, but we have broadened our scope to include the entire Mid-Atlantic region, not just Pennsylvania

Mission: The Blind Sports Organization will promote, provide, and advocate sports, recreational, and social opportunities for blind and visually impaired.

DARRYL GREEN

Darryl was tragically killed in a hit & run accident in June a few hours after his team placed 2nd in the Goaball Nationals.  Darryl, age 25, was a dedicated Goalball & Beep Baseball team member.  He trained and played hard, helped younger players, and was a friend to all.  His Goalball uniform number has been retired and his devotion to blind sports will live on.  He will be truly missed by those who knew him.

MANY SPECIAL THANKS to all the caring people around the USA who contributed to help Darryl’s family meet funeral expenses. The outpouring of love and support was terrific and Darryl’s family really appreciated it as well as the large Goalball and BSO group that attended the funeral, some of whom spoke or sang.

To honor Darryl, his mother and BSO have established a permanent memorial sport fund to help provide beneficial sport opportunities for others. To make a tax deductible donation to the Darryl Green Memorial Sport Fund, send check or money order made payable to BSO, to BSO, 465 Maplewood Road, Springfield, PA 19064.  Please note: Darryl Green Memorial in the memo line.
